On March 23, 2016, Paul Darrell Seegmiller, of Troy, Idaho, left this mortal world for a sweet reunion with his beloved wife, Lila, and those other loved ones that have preceded him in death. And though we will miss him, those of us left behind are grateful to God for taking him Home to those joyful reunions. Paul was born on May 21, 1925 in the town of Washington, Washington County, Utah, to Paul Carroll and Edith Sproul Seegmiller. He learned the finest qualities of the pioneer heritage into which he was born. He grew to manhood during the Great Depression in that area of Southern Utah, learning to work hard and be a conscientious member of his community. With World War II raging throughout the world, Paul was called upon to serve his country first in the Army Air Force, and then in the infantry. He was deployed to Europe and later to the Philippines. At the end of the war Paul returned home to his wife, Lila, his sweetheart from Hurricane, who he had married early in his time in the military. There, for the first time, he got to see his oldest son, Lynn, who was fifteen months old. In St. George Paul learned the trade of auto mechanic and worked at that trade in St. George while adding sons Darrell and Scott, and daughter Annette to the family. Seeking greater opportunities for the Family, Paul and Lila moved to Las Vegas, in Nevada where Paul continued to work as an auto mechanic. During their time in Las Vegas they added to their family daughter Bonnie, son’s Dayne and Quentin, and daughter Polly. Because of his natural ability to understand how things work, and his ability to create novel ways to solve problems, and because of his work ethic, Paul excelled in his trade and was able to provide a good livelihood for his family throughout his life. Paul was a faithful member and leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. By example and by precept he taught his family to be faithful members of the Church. After thirteen years in Las Vegas, Paul and Lila moved their family to Orofino, in northern Idaho. And then eleven years later they moved to Layton, Utah where they finished raising their family. After Paul retired, he and Lila began looking for a quieter place to spend their retirement. They eventually moved to Troy, Idaho, where their son Scott and his family live. In his later years Paul lovingly cared for Lila as her health failed and she passed away. Paul is survived by all eight of his children, and seven of his brothers and sisters; Foy, Tana, Clothele, Van Dyne, Janet, Diane and Linda. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and his older sister Fayone. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Menan 2nd Ward LDS Chapel (3547 E. Menan-Lorenzo Hwy). A viewing will precede the funeral from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment services will be held Friday, April 1st, at 10:00 a.m., at the Burnt Ridge Cemetery near Troy, Idaho. With grateful hearts we, his family, look forward to the day we can be reunited with him and his sweetheart in the Paradise of God.
