Pearl Ailene Stoddard

October 19, 1941 — August 22, 2015

Pearl Ailene Stoddard, age 73, of Monteview, Idaho passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Saturday, August 22, 2015. Ailene was born October 19, 1941 in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Alfred and Laverne Vadnais. She was the ninth child in a family of twelve siblings. Her love and appreciation for the outdoors developed during her early years in beautiful Kilgore, Idaho. She attended Kilgore Elementary School and graduated from Clark County High School in 1959. After graduation she moved to Bountiful, Utah and worked at ZCMI in Salt Lake City. Missing Idaho, she returned to Idaho Falls and before long accepted a secretarial position at the U.S. Sheep Experimental Station in Dubois. This proved to be a great decision, as she soon started dating her future husband of 53 years, Kyle Stoddard. Ailene and Kyle were married on May 12, 1962. They made their first home on a ranch west of Dubois. In 1964 they moved to Monteview, where they operated the Phillips 66 service station and bulk plant. Their daughter, Debra, and son, Russell, were born during this period and quickly became the highlight of their lives. In 1976 Kyle and Ailene purchased ground in Monteview where they raised their family, farmed and ranched. Throughout the years she enjoyed working at her beloved husband’s side. With her ambitious nature and strong work ethic, she was a great partner. It was a life she loved. She served as a Cub Scout leader, did substitute teaching at Terreton Elementary School, and was a member of the West Jefferson Lady Lions. Central to her heart was her family. She loved spending time with them and caring for them. This love was extended outside her immediate family to many siblings as well as nieces and nephews. Her sacrifices were quiet; her life was love expressed. She was a gift to all who knew her and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband Kyle, daughter Debra (Terry) Kofoed of Rigby, son Russell of Monteview, grandsons Tyler Stoddard and Markus (Sierra) Stoddard of Monteview, Josh and (Beki) Kofoed of Merkel, Texas, Jason (Michelle) Kofoed of Rigby, granddaughters Raquel Kofoed and Erika Kofoed of Rigby, Teresa (Dave) Hiza of Burleson, Texas, sister Elna Gibbs of Pocatello, brothers Ted Vadnais of Hamer, Charles (Sharon) Vadnais of Hamer, and Ed (Donna) Vadnais of Rigby. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and one brother. Funeral Services will be held Friday August 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monteview LDS Church. The family will visit with friends at the church on Friday from 9:30 - 10:45. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
