Phil A. Mueller

Phil A. Mueller, 81, of Rigby, Idaho, died April 21, 2010, at his home. He was born December 24, 1928, in Pocatello, Idaho to Albert and Coletta Muller. He moved to Rigby with his family as a small boy. During high school he excelled in sports as quarterback for the undefeated football team and guard on the basketball team. Phil was given a full-ride sports scholarship to Ricks College after graduation he became a school teacher in Jefferson School District 251. Phil taught math, bookkeeping, and coached sports until he retired. He met Verna Mae Cordon while working at Howards Grocery in Rigby. They married on September 18, 1953, and raised five children. In his spare time, Phil built several homes in Jefferson and Bonneville County, and owned a restaurant and pool hall. He loved cars and sports and was involved in anything competitive. He was an avid golfer and got 2 holes-in-one. On Feb 3, 2004, Verna passed away after 50 years of marriage. On April 16, 2005 Phil married Verla Randall of Grant, Idaho and spent five active years together. Verla was at Phil’s side at the time of his passing. Survivors include children; Blake (Renae) Mueller, of Idaho Falls, Mark (Alison) Mueller, of Orem, Utah, Steve (Natalie) Mueller, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brenda (Nathan) Anderson, of Rigby, Melanie (Seth) Burgie, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Twenty Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. Step-Children; Kathy (Brent) Jones, of Rigby, Alene (Rick) Keller of Pocatello, Sanette (Bill) Williams, of Salt Lake City, Uath, Bruce Randall, of Rigby, Fifteen Step-grandchildren and thirteen Step-Great Grandchildren. Brother, Everett “Butch” (Janice) Mueller, of Rigby and Blanche (Bud) Buck of Hall, Montana. He was preceded in death by his wife; Verna Mae Cordon Mueller, his parents, two sisters; Evelyn (Glen) Strupp, Lola (Ray) Anderson and a brother; Charles “Chuck” (Toni) Mueller. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Grant LDS Chapel, 3431 E. 100 N., Rigby, with Bishop Roger Prestwich, Conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
