Phil Montano, 74, of Rigby, died at his home Tuesday, September 27, 2005, of cancer.
Phil was born July 9, 1931 at Holbrook, Arizona a son to Phillip and Dana Sanchez Montano. He attended schools in Long Beach, California. Following High School he served in the United States Navy as a fireman. He married Valerie May Witty, February 15, 1975 in Lakewood, California. He worked as a Brick Mason and later as a general contractor in Southern California. After Phil retired he moved his family to Salmon and was in business with his wife Val for 5 years before moving to the Rigby area in 1987. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, nephews and grand niece, was a gentleman, a gracious host, an avid horseman, hunter, fisherman.
Survivors include: his wife Valerie Montano of Rigby, 1 son Nicholas Phillip (April) Montano of Rigby, 2 brothers: Eddie Montano of Reno, Nevada and John Montano of Rigby, and 2 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 nephew John John Montano.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
