Phyllis Hall

July 11, 1924 — August 28, 2020

Phyllis Florinda Statham Leatham Hall was born in Thornton, Idaho July 11, 1924; the 7 th of 9 children born to Florinda Elizabeth Hokanson and Fred R. Statham.

Her father passed away in 1931 when she was only 7 years old. It was the depression, but Phyllis did not realize that they were poor because everyone was in the same situation.  She remembers those years fondly due to the love for her family and playing with her 5 year old twin siblings, Frank and Flora.

In 1943 her mother married Ira Urban Staley and she gained 3 step siblings. She adored the 2 little girls, Melvina and Janice.

Phyllis met Elwood Leatham and they married August 26, 1943; 6 children were born to them. They lived in Rexburg until his death in an automobile accident on November 22, 1967.

In May of 1969, she married George Hall and became stepmother to 4 grown children. She and George became involved in raising and racing Quarter Horses.  George passed away in September, 2000.  Phyllis remained in her home in Archer, Idaho in fairly good health until her 96 th birthday when her health rapidly declined and she passed away peacefully at Temple View Transitional Care Center in the early hours of August 28, 2020.

Phyllis is survived by her stepsisters, Melvina Richards and Janice Birch; her children, Colleen (Rodney)Eckman of Lyman, ID, Carma Erickson of Idaho Falls, ID, Brent Leatham of Archer, ID, Byron Leatham of Delta, UT, Beverly (Kenneth) Wilding of West Valley City, UT; stepchildren, Rex (Mary) Hall of Silver Springs, NV, Ray (Gloria) Hall of Roy, WA, Aloma Charles of Rigby, ID, 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde Statham, Donald Statham, Harold Rusty Statham, Horace Statham, Gale Statham, Frank Statham; sisters, Irene Stoker, Flora Rupert; son, Jerald (Jerry) Leatham, and grandson, Jason Wilding.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Rexburg Cemetery.

Services are under the care of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, ID.
