Rachel Annette Olsen, age 41 of Rigby, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at her home with her parents by her side. She was under the care of Solace Home Health.
Rachel was born November 24, 1970 in Provo, Utah, the oldest child of Joseph Brent and Rebecca Mary Totten Olsen . She is survived by her parents and siblings: Mary Kathryn Olsen and James Underwood of Idaho Falls, Nathon Robert Olsen and Cathy Smullin Olsen of Lewiston, Utah, Diane Ami Olsen of Rigby, David Karl Olsen and Jolyn Ricks Olsen of Rexburg, two foster sisters: Suzanne Camphuysen Williams of Washington State, Kaitlyn Kathleen Hall of Rigby, 10 nephews and 11 nieces.
Rachel was an active member of the Lorenzo Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was called to serve a mission in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Ricks College, Rexburg, Idaho with an Associate Degree in Computer Science. She graduated from Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming and worked for L3 Communications (auxiliary of Lockheed-Martin) for 3 years. While attending graduate school at Idaho State University working towards a master’s degree in mathematics, her health turned bad and she eventually became disabled and returned to Rigby to live with her parents.
Rachel’s two greatest loves were her cats, and books. In lieu of flowers you are invited to donate a book to your favorite library or help your local humane society care for unwanted pets.
There will be no viewing. Rachel will be interred at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery following a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m. Monday April 9, 2012. Following the graveside service those who wish to celebrate Rachel’s life are invited to join the family at the Red Brick Church 401 West 1st South, Rigby to share memories and light refreshments.
