Ramon Garr Widdison

RaMon Garr Widdison, 72, of Rigby, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, in Idaho Falls of heart failure. He was born January 8, 1936, in Plano, Idaho, the son of Garr and Dareta Brown Hemsley Widdison. He was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Madison High School, Ricks College and earned his B.S. from Brigham Young University. RaMon served in the Idaho National Guard. He also served a mission for the L.D.S. Church in Indiana. He met his wife, Christy Fuegener, while attending Ricks College. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 9, 1960. He taught elementary school in Rigby for two years and then taught for the Madison School District for the next 36 years. RaMon loved nature. He was a big supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, attending many camping trips and hikes with his sons. During the summers he worked at Treasure Mountain Scout Camp. He also enjoyed fixing electronic devices. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed working in his garden. RaMon was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in five Bishoprics, as a Stake Missionary, Stake Genealogy worker, and held numerous positions in the Sunday School, Young Mens, and High Priest Group. RaMon is survived by his wife Christy, daughter Tammy (Jeff) Bateman, of Kuna, Idaho, his sons David (Janet) of Pocatello, and Jeff (Annette) of Ammon; 11 grandchildren; and a sister LaRain (Blair) Nave, of Idaho Falls, brothers, Larry (Gloria) of Hibbard, and Dan (Judy) of Washington, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister LeAnn Bottles. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Noon, at the Rigby 1st and 4th Ward Chapel. Family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby and on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Plano Cemetery. The family would appreciate contributions to the Perpetual Education Fund of the L.D.S. Church in Lieu of Flowers.
