Ramona Joy Hancock 77, of Lyman died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
She was born on November 16, 1928 in Rigby, Idaho a daughter of Wesley Waitsell Russell and Sylvia Elnore Peterson Russell. She was raised and attended school in Rigby. Ramona married Elwood Thomas Hancock on August 26, 1945 in Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served in the primary, as the ward librarian, a den mother in the scout organization, and a relief society visiting teacher for 50 years. Ramona worked at the Ricks College bookstore. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, collecting dolls, thimbles, mugs and watches. Ramona was very compassionate to everyone.
Survivors include her husband Elwood Hancock of Lyman, three daughters; Shelia (Blain) Barney of Lyman, Peggy (Landon) Marlor of Jerome, Idaho, Lori (Joe) Kidd of Lyman, two sons; Rick (Lori) Hancock of Rigby, Brett (Julie) Hancock of Lyman, three sisters Faye Radford, Leah (Cal) Hurley, Nina (Darwin) Kroll all of Idaho Falls, one brother Ned Russell of Rigby, 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the Rexburg South Stake Center with President Randy Sutton officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and prior to the services at the Stake Center from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Burial will follow the services at the Sutton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
