Raymond Stanley Lindstrom

June 21, 1920 — September 3, 2005

Raymond Stanley Lindstrom, 85, passed away September 3, 2005, in Rexburg, ID. He was born June 21, 1920 in Idaho Falls, ID to Harold Alrich and Laverne Dunmire Lindstrom. He was the second oldest of five boys. He was raised in Lewisville. He attended Lewisville Elementary and Midway High School. His mother passed away when he was 15, leaving his father to raise five sons. At age 21, he was drafted into the Army, serving with the 1660th Air Craft Warning Company in Alaska. He farmed for several years after World War II, then took a job with Phillips Petroleum Company at the Atomic Energy Site., learning the pipefitter’s trade. After retiring, he took up the hobby of hooking rugs, making over 100 of them for his children and grandchildren. He loved to fish, as a kid with his father, brothers and later with family and friends. He especially liked fishing the south fork of the Snake River and Clark Canyon dam. He married Edna Ball on May 2, 1944 in Salt Lake City, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 20, 1952. He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as bishop of the Lewisville 2nd Ward, served on the Rigby Stake High Council, and was a dedicated home teacher. He was interested in politics and served as a Jefferson County Commissioner. He loved his family, had a great sense of humor, and was kind to all. He is survived by children, Linda A. Burnett of Boise, Ray S. Lindstrom of Rexburg, Marie L. Johnstun of Rexburg, and Renea’ L. Beckstrand of Orem, UT, and his brother Lowell Everett Lindstrom of Bremerton, WA., 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Ball, daughter Ellen K. Sanders, granddaughter Andrea Burnett, his parents, and brothers Harold Richard (Dick) Lindstrom, Walter Eugene (Gene) Lindstrom, and George Dwain Lindstrom. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewisville LDS Chapel with Bishop Curtis Thomas officiating. The family will visit with friends at the Lewisville church on Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
