Raymond “Ray” Nels Quinton, age 81, of Terreton, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at his home in Terreton.
Ray was born December 6, 1924 at Woodville, Idaho a son of Alfred James Quinton and Ella Teressa Sorenson. He attended schools in Osgood and Firth, Idaho. He married Kay Mary Byrne May 22, 1955 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He farmed in the Terreton area for 64 years, was a trucker hauling ore from the Gilmore Mines and hay from the Mud Lake and Terreton Areas. He was an active member of the LDS church serving as a dance instructor in the Terreton Ward and was a home teacher.
He is survived by his wife Kay Quinton of Mud Lake, one daughter Peggy (Jesse) Miller of Champagne, Illinois, one son Rick Quinton of Pocatello, Idaho, four sisters, Donna (Gale) Young of Idaho Falls, Margie Haycock of Terreton, Janice Larsen of Idaho Falls, Elleen (Roger) Jones of Aberdeen, Maryland, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Terreton Stake Center with Bishop Jay Simmons officiating. The family will visit with friends at the Church on Thursday evening, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
