Listen to Obituary

Raymond J Tea, 93, of Menan, Idaho, passed away after a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, intelligence, and a love for adventure. He was born in 1932 in Thornton, Idaho to parents James Henry Tea and Alice Alveretta Johnson.

A patient, kind, and thoughtful man, Raymond was known as both a teacher and a doer—someone who could build, fix, and figure out almost anything. His outgoing and gentlemanly nature, paired with a quick wit and sense of humor, made him a joy to be around.

In 1953, he was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in France, where he honed his skills in machining and heavy equipment repair. While overseas, his adventurous spirit led him to travel throughout Europe, sparking a lifelong passion for photography.

After his service, he settled in Mackay, Idaho, where he worked for the Idaho Transportation Department. There, he met Patricia Newbern, and they married in 1956, raising three children: James, Penny, and Randy Tea. He was a patient and steady father who taught by example, sharing his knowledge and curiosity with those around him.

In 1976, he moved to Menan, Idaho. In 1982, he married Louise Prudhome, and together they enjoyed many years of travel and adventure.

He was a proud member of the Eagles Club and enjoyed working with metal, wood, tractors, the outdoors, and photography. Intelligent and capable, he was always willing to lend a hand or share what he knew.

He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, adventurous spirit, and the genuine way he made others feel welcome. His stories, laughter, and thoughtful presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

An open house to remember Ray will be held on Saturday June 20, 2026, from 10-2 at 679 N 3565 E Menan, Idaho 83434. Brunch will be served so come and reminisce and tell a story.
