Reed Darsel Nord age 85, passed away Tuesday, May 14th, 2025, at his home in Ririe.
Reed was born March 11, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho a son to Clyde Nord and Amelia “Berniece” Scott Nord. He grew up on the family farm between Rigby and Ririe. He graduated from Rigby High School where he was active in music and Ag. Reed joined the Army National Guard while in high school and served for six years.
Along with farming full time, Reed worked at the Rigby Sugar Factory stacking sugar. He started his auction career in 1972 and was owner of Potato State Auction. In 1974 Reed started his career as a real estate agent, and was very successful. For the last several years he worked with Keller-Williams in Idaho Falls, mostly selling farms and ranches. Reed brokered buying and selling shares of water and was co-owner of Rocky Mountain Water Exchange.
Reed married Gaylia White in 1961 in the Idaho Falls temple. They had six children. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions but his favorite was Ward Mission Leader.
Reed is survived by his children Natalie (Dan) Shaffer of Inkom, Idaho; Darrin Nord of Rigby, Idaho; Diana Lowder of Aurora, Utah; Eric Nord of Rigby, Idaho. He had 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Reed was preceded in death by his wife, Gaylia Nord, his daughter and son-in-law Kathy (Bill) Jenkins, his son Ryan Nord, and another son-in-law Steven Lowder; his parents Clyde and Berniece Nord, his sisters Helen Watson and Lois Poole, and brother Darwin Nord.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 12:00 noon at the Perry Ward church building, 285 2nd West in Ririe, Idaho 83443 The family will visit with friends at the Perry Ward Church, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery following the service.
