Rendon D. Lovell, 82 of Ririe, died of complications related to strokes, Friday, February 9, 2007 after residing three years at Rexburg Nursing and Rehab in Rexburg, Idaho.
He was born July 30, 1924 at the family home in Ririe to George Hyrum Lovell and Harriett Larkin Borrowman Lovell.
Rendon attended and graduated from Ririe High School prior to entering the Army during World War II. His foreign tour included the Philippines and Japan. While serving he was assigned to the Army Band, playing trumpet and baritone.
Upon returning home Rendon courted Maralyn Hill from Ucon, Idaho. They were married June 15, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. After briefly attending Ricks College, they moved to Ririe where Rendon returned to farm with his brother, George L. Lovell. He loved the challenges and enjoyed the success of farming and spending time with family.
Throughout his married life, Rendon served in many different assignments within the LDS Church, most recently as Patriarch. He was also active in the Ririe Community. His family, his religion, his strong friendships and love of this valley were the driving forces in his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maralyn, four sons: James R. (Hope) Lovell, Mark D. (Vickie) Lovell, Clair D. (Melina) Lovell of Ririe, and Paul R. (Brenda) Lovell of North Salt Lake, Utah; three daughters Renee (Kim) Ritter of Ririe, Diane (Terry) Hulse of Farmington, Utah, and Marian (Lance) Cygielman of Jackson, Wyoming; two sisters, Lois (Jack) Parry and Myrna (Ken) Hamilton: and brother George L. (Amber) Lovell. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Leah (Pershing) Cleverly, 1 brother, Ray (Florence) Lovell and 1 granddaughter, Jennifer Renee Marler.
Funeral services will take place at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 16, at the LDS Stake Center in Ririe. Family will meet with friends and relatives, Thursday, February 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Ririe. Interment will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
