Rex John Davids, 99, of Menan, Idaho, passed away on November 22, 2025, at Sage Grove Assisted Living Center, in Rigby, Idaho, just a couple months shy of his 100 th birthday. Rex was born February 5, 1926, in Bancroft, Idaho, to Anson Chester and Caroline Paul Davids. He grew up in Chesterfield, Idaho, as a farm boy and at age 18 was drafted into the Army Airforce. His first trip away from home was to basic training, on to gunnery school then serving as a tail gunner in B-17 and B-29 bombers in the Pacific Theatre of WWII.

After the war ended, Rex spent time in Portland, Oregon, with a sister and worked at a chain factory and woolen mill. While in Portland, he met Phyllis Woolsey at a church dance. Two years later they returned to Idaho and were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 9, 1948. He went to telegraph school and upon completion began working for the Union Pacific Railroad where he remained for 39 years. Working for the railroad involved moving to many cities including Victor, Drummond, Pingree, Dayton, Salt Lake, Las Vegas, Nampa, Shelley, St. Antony and Menan. Rex and Phyllis resided in Menan for 64 years.

Rex had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, small engine repair, HAM radios-KA7SXW, reading, bowling, cheering for Utah Jazz, but mostly golfing. He spent countless hours at Jefferson Hills. Rex was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, served as a scout master and in his later years attended the temple and enjoyed Indexing.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Phyllis, and three sons; Gene Davids of Ammon; Kim (Marcene) Davids of Rigby; David (Debbie) Davids of Ririe; 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings.
