Richard Ivan “Dick” Brower, 84, of Rexburg formerly of the Teton Valley, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Burley Care Center of a lingering illness.
Dick was born May 17, 1923 in Felt, Idaho a son of William Earl Brower and Hazel Pauline Walton Brower. He was raised in Felt and attended school in the Teton valley and graduated from Teton High School. After high school he served in the United States Army. Dick married Elva Janiel “Betty” Finn on May 8, 1942 in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple in 1943. He and his wife farmed and owned and operated Betty’s Café in Tetonia for nine years. After retiring they moved to Rexburg. Dick coached Pony League baseball. He loved to fish, hunt, play pinochle, and attend the ball games of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his wife Betty Brower of Rexburg, four sons, Tharon Richard (Linda) Brower of Idaho Falls, Garon Richard (Norma) Brower of Rexburg, Michael William (Jackie) Brower of Ammon, Kenneth Lee (Merri Ann) of Rexburg, two sisters Maxine (Reed) Jardine of Pocatello, LaRae (Reed) Casper of Felt, 11 grandchildren, 18 grandchildren.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Janiel Jean Wulf, one grandson Kenneth Richard Brower, and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel on Friday June 29, 2007. The family will visit with friends prior to the services from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
