Richard Charles "Dick" Woods

Richard Charles “Dick” Woods, 77, of Roberts, Idaho died Wednesday, September 03, 2003, at his home in Roberts. Dick was born September 9, 1925, at Clark, Idaho the son of Raymond Stanley Woods and Mabel Winifred Balmforth Woods. He attended schools in Clark, Rigby and Roberts graduating from Roberts High School. Dick served with the Merchant Marines during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters. He married Della Connell June 15, 1947 at Roberts, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Dick was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served as Scout Master, Roberts Ward Sunday School President, Rigby Stake Sunday School President, 2nd counselor in the Roberts 2nd Ward Bishopric, Roberts Ward Mission Leader and as one of the seven Presidents of the Quorum of the Seventy in the Roberts Stake. Dick was an active Businessman in Roberts owning J&W Market, was a partner in Glenwood Custom Pack and in True Value Hardware. He also operated Food Concessions for various events in the inter-mountain west. He was a member of and served as president of the Roberts Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed reading and loved his family. He is survived by: His wife Della Woods of Roberts, 6 children, Debra W. Clapp of Ammon, Derra W. (Stephen) Ball of Roberts, Richard C. (Sheila) Woods of Idaho Falls, Dawn Woods of Roberts, Danna W. Hebdon of Idaho Falls, and Drue W. (Kevin) Beebe of Richland, Washington; 2 brothers Raymond Stanley (Evelyn) Woods of St. Maries, Idaho, John Robert (Geraldine) Woods of Tacoma, Washington. 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law Walter E. Clapp. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 8, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. in the Roberts LDS Stake Center with Bishop Mitch Scott officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Roberts L.D.S. Stake Center and on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Roberts LDS Stake Center. Burial will be in the Market Lake Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel of Rigby.
