Richard “Dick” Riley Davey, 73, of Ririe died at his home April 22, 2008.
He was born November 10, 1935 at Lorenzo, a son of George Andrew Davey and Eva Alberta Hall Davey. He attended schools in Menan and graduated from Rigby High School, he continued his education at Ricks College. June, 1953 he enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard, and served in Vietnam. He achieved the rank SFC E7, and was honorably discharged July, 1977.
November 4, 1959 he married Linda Rae Summers in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He worked for the Ririe School District for ten years, the Ririe City Fire Department for twenty years, and was an Operations Manager for Unisource.
Dick was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. He was a Ririe City Councilman for sixteen years and the Ririe City Mayor for twelve years. Dick volunteered as Scout Master, was the Family Reunion Organizer, a member of the VFW, and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Dick is survived by his wife, Linda Rae Summers Davey of Ririe, three daughters, Eva (Paul) Niederer, of Rexburg, Ginger Kay (Denver) Gratton, of Lynden WA, Lorie Clark, of Idaho Falls, two sons, Wesley (Gina) Davey of Hickory, NC, Trevor (Annika) Davey of Ririe, a sister, Iva Lou (Joe) Thornock of Ammon, brothers, Jack Davey of Boise, Merlin (Chris) Davey, of Petaluma, CA and Marvin (Gloria) Davey of Olympia, WA, fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Ririe LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Bruce L. Koon, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and one hour prior to services, Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
