Richard Walter Green, 84, of Idaho Falls, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at The Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.
He was born November 1, 1925, in Menan, to Robert Walter Green and Afton Ellsworth Poole Green. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and then served with the US Navy in the Pacific Theater as a Radar Operator during WWII on the USS Gallatin, During the Korean War he served on the USS Goss and USS Bairoko. On June 17, 1948, he married Jeanne Ann Deschamps in Idaho Falls; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple June 20, 1954. He worked at the NRF for 32 years as a Technician.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and served as a Temple Officiator for 23 years in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a member of the American Legion, loved to golf, and enjoyed going to St. George, Utah.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Lee Green, of Idaho Falls, sons, Gary Richard (Jann) Green, of St. George, Utah, Rick Omer (Shari) Green, of Grand Junction, Colorado, brothers, Jay D. Green, of Fruit Heights, Utah, Lynn O. (Nell) Green, of Idaho Falls, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Idaho Falls 24th Ward LDS Chapel, 1155 1st Street, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Doug Hillman, conducting. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
