Richard Eugene Griswold

Richard Eugene Griswold age 77 and Jana Lee Butler Griswold age 68, passed away from injuries received in an automobile accident January 8th 2025 near their home in Newdale, Idaho.

Richard was born February 20 1947 in Los Angeles, California a son to Edwin Eugene Griswold and Elma Maude Aman Griswold.  Jana was born September 4, 1956 in Pasadena, California a daughter to David Leon Butler and Janet Iandola Griswold.  Richard served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1972.  He married Joann Vaslie. They later divorced. Jana and Richard were married June 1, 1980.

Richard earned a bachelor of arts degree from Loma Linda University and worked throughout his life refinishing furniture and then became a Dental Lab Tech and truck driver.  Jana received an associates degree in Interior Design at Mount San Antonio College.  She worked in interior design and as a seamstress, and then became a crown and bridge dental technician.

They lived in Glendora, Costa Mesa, Covina, Hesperia, California and Newdale, Idaho.  They both enjoyed dirt bike racing, boating, and skiing, camping, side by side trail riding, golfing, kayaking, and Jana enjoyed sewing, quilting, and baking.  She was an amazing Oma to babysit her grandkids.

Richard and Jana are survived by their children; Jeff (Jennifer) Griswold of Franklin, TN, Brandon (Ainsley) Griswold of Rigby, ID, and Breana (Justin) Davis of Burkburnett, TX. A sister of Richard, Judi Clrillo of Oak Hills, CA. Sister’s of Jana; Susan Christian of Apple Valley, CA, Peggy Butler of Apple Valley, CA, and a brother, Bob (Cathy) Butler of Upland, CA. Three beautiful granddaughters and 3 handsome grandsons.

Richard and Jana were preceded in death by both sets of parents.

A memorial service will be held for Richard and Jana at the Newdale Church, 350 Church Street, Newdale, ID on January 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM. Interment and Veteran’s Rites will be in the Idaho Veterans Cemetery, (2651 Cromwell Lane, Blackfoot, ID. 83221) at 11:00 am prior to services.
