Rick Joe Phillips

Rick Joe Phillips, age 53, of Rigby, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015. Rick was born June 29th 1961 in Cortez, Colorado a son to Dale Russell Phillips and Wanda Workman Phillips. He attended Rigby Schools graduating from Rigby High School. He then graduated from Ricks College and Idaho State University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. He married Karen Butikofer in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple December 4th 1982. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission for the church in San Jose, California. He worked for the INL as a Computer Programmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and reading. He loved the outdoors. Survivors include: His wife Karen Butikofer Phillips of Rigby, four sons: Steven R. Phillips of Idaho Falls, Brett S. (Christiana) Phillips of Rigby, Tyler J. Phillips of Rigby and Shawn S. Phillips serving in the California Long Beach Mission, his mother Wanda Phillips, of Rigby, a sister Barbara McMurtrey of Rigby, four brothers: Dale M. (Jackie) Phillips of Rigby, Robert (Michelle) Phillips of Meridian, Brian (Jodi) Phillips of Blackfoot, and Scot (Melanie) Phillips of Meridian, and three grandchildren Mathias, Xavian and Hyrum. He was preceded in death by his father Dale R. Phillips and a nephew Casen Hunter Phillips. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Rigby Idaho Stake Center, 258 West 1st North, Rigby, with Bishop Carl Poulsen conducting. The family will visit with friends on Friday May 15, 2015 at the Stake Center from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
