Robert W. Eames, age 79, of Menan, died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls .
He was born March 26, 1929 at the family home in Menan, a son of John Wesley Eames and Leota Luella Konkel Eames.
He attended Menan grade school and graduated from Midway High School where he was student body president. He played on the football and basketball teams and enjoyed being in school plays.
On March 17, 1956 he married Jean Elizabeth Schofield in Menan. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was active with Menan civic duties serving on the Menan School PTA, the Farm Bureau, served on the Menan Co-op board for nine years, and for thirty-one years on the Long Island Canal Board. He farmed all his life on part of the homestead which is over 100 years old. He also was a custodian of the Midway Middle School for nine years. Bob's life was his family and the farm.
He is survived by his wife Jean, and four children, Ed (Mickey) Eames, Robert (Cruz) Eames, Shaun (Debra) Eames and Deborah (Jeff) Bennett. Fourteen grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William (Bill) Eames and three sisters, Betty Scott, Ruth Anderson and Iva Maloney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.Thursday, May 29, at the Menan 1st Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Greg Venema officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.on Wednesday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday before services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
