Robert Morace Koon , 86, of Independence, died Friday, September 1, 2006 at his home.
Robert was born in Rexburg, Idaho a son of Morace Graves Koon and Maude Doris Anderson Koon. He was raised and attended school in Madison County and San Bernardino, California where he excelled at sports. Robert married Robinette Mary Larsen on September 1, 1939 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He worked as a farmer and a rancher. Robert was a member of the Madison Cutter Association. He served in the United States Army during World War II in 1945. He was a Union Grange member and an officer. He was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the upper valley square dance club. He had served as a Boy Scout leader and was a foster parent.
Robert is survived by his wife Robinette Mary Koon of Rexburg, two daughters Mary Anita (Jack) Clark of Rexburg and Sonya Buller (Al) Robinson of Sultan, Washington, three sons, Larry Moris (Gaylene) Koon of Burns Lake, Canada, Lionel V. (Kathy) Koon of Rexburg, and Gordan Alma (RoseLee) Koon of Rexburg, and two brothers, Jack Koon and Frank Koon both of Rexburg, 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Bill and Vance, one sister Delia and granddaughter Robin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening September 4, 2006 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Burton Cemetery.
