Robert Boyd Robertson, age 83, of Rigby, died March 6, 2015, at his home in Rigby.
Boyd was born December 15, 1931, in Plano, Idaho a son of Robert Clifford Robertson and Geneva Palmer Robertson. Boyd was raised and attended school in Plano and graduated from Sugar Salem High School. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. He married Elva Jean Orme on November 2, 1950 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple.
He worked for farmers and ranchers in the Plano area, until he moved to Blackfoot where he worked for Smith’s Bakery and Horrocks Ready Mix. They then moved to the Lost River Valley where he farmed and ranched, raising Black Angus cattle and sheep. After numerous years of farming and ranching he purchased a backhoe and truck and started his career in construction. He was a jack of all trades.
Boyd was very proud of building his own homes. If he didn’t build it he remodeled it. He enjoyed woodworking, building toys and making stir sticks for family and friends in his spare time.
Boyd is survived by his wife Elva Jean Robertson of Rigby; daughters Nikki Jean (Kelly) Swensen of Soda Springs and Julie Ann (Lanny) Staker of Ammon; sons, Darwin Boyd (Dorie) Robertson, Clifford Brent (Joni) Robertson and Doyle Kay (Anna Marie) Robertson, all of Rigby; sisters Betty (Ralph) Madsen and Bonnie (Bruce) Cook, both of Rexburg; brothers, Reed (Patty) Robertson of Rexburg and Wayne (Nikki) Robertson of Plano, twenty-one grand children and thirty-seven great grandchildren.
Boyd is preceded in death by his parents; Brother, Neiland Robertson; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby 14th Ward LDS Chapel, 602 Sundance, with Bishop Bruce Marler conducting. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel and prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
