Robert Dale Rounds

Robert Dale Rounds, age 73, of Lewisville, passed away at his home, Sunday, March 12, 2017. Robert was born March 28th 1943 at the home of his Grandmother Lund, near Garfield, Idaho, the son of Merrill D. Rounds and Nina June Lund Rounds. Robert was raised in Lewisville. He attended school in Lewisville, Grant, Midway and Rigby. He graduated from Rigby High School in 1961. He attended Ricks College for one year, then served a 2 ½ year mission in Uruguay, South America for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the people and his service there. His use of the Spanish language served him throughout his life. Robert returned to Ricks College in 1965 graduating in 1967. He continued his education from 1967 through 1970, at Brigham Young University, earning his undergraduate degree. He then attended Washington University in St. Louise, Missouri from the fall of 1970 until the spring of 1974; graduating with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Degree. Robert returned to Idaho to start his practice in Rigby and practiced dentistry from 1975 until he retired in March of 2007. He loved his work and especially the patients he served. He strived to provide the best possible care and support. The Lord blessed Robert with musical talent. He started piano lessons with Anna L. Brady at the age of 4. While he could read and write music, he could play anything by ear. He also played the guitar and most recently the organ. He delighted his family and friends with his impromptu concerts. Robert was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many leadership and teaching capacities. He took great care to serve faithfully and diligently. One of his favorite callings was playing the piano for the Sunday Priesthood Meetings. He is survived by a sister Coralee “Corie” (Jerry) Poulsen of Twin Falls, Idaho, sister-in-law, Donna Rounds, 4 nieces, Sherri Staggs, Stefanie Poulsen, Shelley Maxey and Erica Reis; and three nephews, Tad Rounds, Jeremy Poulsen and Scott Rounds. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Grant, Larry and Boyd. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 17th 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewisville LDS Chapel, 474 North 3450 East, Lewisville, Idaho. The family will visit with friends Thursday, March 16th at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
