Robert L. Silcott of Clearfield, Utah died there March 9, 2008. Robert was born April 30, 1921, in Sterling, CO to Edna (Morgan) and Lloyd Silcott.
He lived in Colorado his early years and traveled with his parents before settling in Rigby, Idaho with his mother. He attended school in Rigby and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
He joined the Navy in 1939 and served in WW II and the Korean War as a Pharmacist’s Mate 1st Class. He married Edith Hunstead in 1945 in San Diego, CA. He left the service in 1952. He was a long-time employee of Block’s, retiring in 1980 before moving to Billings, MT where he married Jean Zieman. He moved to Layton, UT in 2002 to be near family. He resided at Rocky Mountain Care-Clearfield for the last several years.
Robert loved fishing and camping and spent many happy hours on the water with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wives, his mother & father, step-father and a granddaughter, Janice Mae Silcott. Survivors include daughters, Teddy (Larry) Beer, Walla Walla, WA and Peggy (Mark) Peter, Clinton, UT; sons, Randy, Ogden, UT and Mike (Cathy), Layton, UT; four granddaughters; Dana, Kari, Traci and Crystal and eight great-grandchildren; sisters’ Vila Hawkins, Rigby & Gaye Johnson, Idaho Falls.
Cremation was in Roy, Utah. A graveside service will be held at the Annis Cemetery (Rigby, ID) on Friday, March 14, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in care of Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID 83442).
