Rocky Lynn Harris, beloved husband, son, and educator, passed away at his home in Rigby, Idaho, at the age of 61. Born December 30, 1963, in Oklahoma City, OK, Rocky spent his early years in Bethany, Oklahoma. In June 1987, he married his college sweetheart, Shannon Swayze Harris, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. Rocky dedicated 28 years to teaching high school chemistry at North High School in Bakersfield, CA, and touched many lives with his passion for science and learning.
A man of many talents and interests, Rocky's hobbies were as diverse as they were numerous. He was a member of the Upper Snake River Bowman's Club and the California Blacksmith Association. He pursued many activities such as archery, hunting, fishing, welding, blacksmithing, hiking, flying, kayaking, and rock climbing with enthusiasm. Following their early retirement, Rocky and Shannon fulfilled their dream of settling in Idaho and enjoying retirement doing the things they loved.
Rocky is survived by his wife Shannon, mother Rita, sister Nola Harris Lawrence, brother-in-law William Lawrence, and his nieces, Jennifer (husband Aaron) Snyder and their four children, William, John, Luke and Timothy, and Anna (husband Jose) Navarro.
In accordance with his wishes, Rocky will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held this summer, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember the remarkable life of a man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
