Rod Alan Whittaker

Rod Alan Whittaker, 58, of Menan, Idaho passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. On October 2, 1959, Rod was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Hyrum Whittaker and Shirley Johnston Whittaker Sager. Rod was raised in Idaho Falls, attending Dora Erickson Elementary, Clair E. Gale Jr. High and Idaho Falls High School. He continued his education at Norfolk Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska and Diablo Community College in Walnut Creek, California in Computer Science. Rod worked as an Assistant Manager at A-1 Rentals and U-Haul. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He enjoyed mechanics, logging, kids and helping others. Rod is survived by his daughters; Raysha (Calvin Kerley) Repass of Afton, Wyoming, and Dalana Whittaker of Menan, Idaho. His son; Hyrum Whittaker of Cody, Wyoming. His mother, Shirley Whittaker Sager of Menan, Idaho.  Sisters; Valarie (Roger) Buchanan of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sherri Abbott of Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Brother, Mick Whittaker of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Step brothers; Brent Sager of Twin Falls, Idaho, Kent Sager of Twin Falls, Idaho and Clint (Vickey) Sager of Wendell, Idaho. Nephews; Mike Cawley, Shawn (C.J.) Abbott, Jared Buchanan and Jon Buchanan.  Neices; Alix Buchanan, Megan (Michael) Maloney, and Samantha Buchanan.  He was soon to be a grandfather to a grandson due in February, 2018. Rod was preceded in death by his father, Hyrum Whittaker, Step-Father Bob Sager and grandparents, Tom and Helen Johnston and Henry and Bessie Whittaker. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, Idaho) at 11:00 AM. Guests may visit prior to services on Wednesday at Eckersell’s from 9:30 to 10:45 AM.  Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
