Rose Campbell Henry, 91, of Rigby, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at her home. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
She was born May 14, 1922 in Rigby to Hyrum Lemuel Campbell and Charlotte Rachel Davis Campbell. She was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. She continued her education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. She then became a Certified Radio Wirer for airplanes at Boeing during World War II and later worked as a Telegrapher for Union Pacific. On March 9, 1949, she married Charles Howard Henry in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Rose was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in all auxiliary organizations of the church, as well as serving a mission to the Southern States from 1947-1948. She also served along with her husband, in the North Carolina Charlotte Mission, as well as in the Idaho Falls Temple Visitors Center and in the Idaho Falls Temple Baptistery. Rose served as a Pink Lady, volunteering at the Riverview Hospital in Idaho Falls. Rose was very involved in family history and genealogy. She loved gardening and canning and was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed music and sang with the Chansonnettes for 25 years, often narrating parts of their programs.
She is survived by her daughters, Rachel (Guy) Parker, of Layton, Utah, Rosanne Henry, of Rigby, Esther Henry, of Rigby; sons, Charles H. (Judy) Henry Jr., of Rigby, John L. (Mary) Henry, of Roy, Utah; sister, Ruth Peterson, of Rigby; brother-in-law, Bud Strupp, of Rigby; 23 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Mary Killian, Chloe Butler, True Strupp; brothers, Jesse Campbell, Leo Campbell, Parley Campbell and George Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Rigby South Stake Center, 106 N. 3800 E., Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday evening and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to services, all at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
