Listen to Obituary

Rosemary Gray Jenkins, 74, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. She was born on May 5, 1952, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Robert Glenn Gray and Barbara Mary Sanderson Gray.

Rosemary spent her childhood and school years in Boise, Idaho; Anchorage and Juneau, Alaska; Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; and Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she graduated from Skyline High School in 1970. She attended Brigham Young University, including a semester studying in Salzburg, Austria, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1975.

Rosemary had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed playing softball and volleyball during high school. She organized the first Young Women camp for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in northern Alaska. For many years, she taught piano lessons in the Rigby area and was a member of the Idaho Falls Music Club and the Upper Valley Music Teachers Association. She also served for many years as a music festival chairman.

Rosemary dedicated her career to teaching children. She taught first grade in Shelley and Rigby and was the first teacher in the South Fork Elementary Chinese Immersion first-grade program in the Jefferson School District.

She was active in Scouting, serving in district and regional leadership positions with the Grand Teton Council. She received the Scouting Centennial District Award of Merit in 1993.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rosemary faithfully served in many callings throughout her life. Among them were stake Young Women Presidency, stake camp and sports director, stake Primary Presidency, stake Relief Society Presidency, stake music chairman, ward chorister, orchestra organist, and many other auxiliary leadership positions. She especially loved teaching children and helping them reach their highest potential.

Rosemary cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, and the many joyful times they shared together. She found great comfort in her testimony that families can be together forever.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Jenkins; her children, Bryan (Elisha) Jenkins of Monroe, North Carolina; Kevin (Stephanie) Jenkins of American Fork, Utah; Jeffrey (Amy) Jenkins of Orem, Utah; and Steven Jenkins of Rigby, Idaho; her sisters, Barbie (Steve) Young of Highland, Utah, and Debbie (Steve) Grant of Boise, Idaho; her brothers, Rob (Anne) Gray of Wasilla, Alaska, Michael (Kari) Gray of Wasilla, Alaska, Steve (Rex) Romande of Coronado, California, and Dennis (Jolene) Gray of Cedar City, Utah; and 15 beloved grandchildren.
