Ross James Hope, 89 passed away peacefully Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home in Rexburg, Idaho, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 31, 1923, in Hibbard, ID to James Eli Hope and Emily Withers Hope. He was raised and attended schools in Sugar City. On March 15, 1949, he married Jean Beck in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple; they lived happily together for more than 63 years. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Ross worked at the Sugar Factory in Lincoln, and for the Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. In 1965 Ross and his family moved to Las Vegas, NV when he was employed by at the Nevada Test Site, and in 1992 he retired and moved back to Rexburg.
Ross enjoyed working on many projects and could fix almost anything, he was always willing to help, and loved to serve people. He was active in the LDS faith, and served as a Bishop and enjoyed working in the Las Vegas and Rexburg Temples with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Jean B. Hope, of Rexburg, sons; Jim (Debbie) Hope, of Trabuco Canyon, California, Michael Hope, of Las Vegas, Nevada, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert B., daughter-in-law; Leza, sister, Jenny Rindlisbacher, brothers; Arthur, Grant, Lester, Ivan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Rexburg East Stake Center; Rolling Hills Ward, LDS Church, 387 S. 4th East, Rexburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to services Friday, both at the church. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com
