ROSS SOMMER age 82, of Rigby, died in the Rexburg Care Center, Sunday, October 10, 2004. Ross was born January 8, 1922 in Hibbard, Idaho, the son of Fred and Mary Edith Park Sommer. Ross grew and attended schools in the Hibbard area. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Yvonne McCulloch, August 13, 1941. They were later divorced. He married Ireta Mickelsen, March 18, 1947 in Dillon, Montana. In 1959, he moved his family to California, were he worked as a plasterer, and later as a heavy equipment operator. He loved horses, hunting, fishing, and camping. In 1979 he moved his family back home to Idaho, where he later retired. He is survived by his wife Ireta Sommer of Rigby, Idaho. Two daughters, Julie Buche of Webster, Texas. Jana Kelly (Tim Parker) of Rigby, Idaho. Three sons, Brent (Linda) Sommer of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Steve (Sue) Sommer of St Anthony, Idaho. Fred (Maria) Sommer, of Marysville, California. Scott (Debbie) Sommer of Summerfield, North Carolina. Three sisters, Ethel Rock of Boise, Idaho. Elma Butler of Las Vegas, Nevada. Eva (Tom) Siebert of Salt lake City, Utah. One Brother, Dale Sommer, of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Survived by 17 Grandchildren, and15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one son Jerry. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street in Rigby, Idaho. The family will receive friends Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
