Roy Brigham Gardner, 90, passed away Sunday, December 27th, 2015.
Our dad was born March 9th, 1925 in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Hugh Vernon and Laura May Gardner. Dad was the 4th of seven children.
He served our country in World War II in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.
He married Beverly Lois Clark in 1947 and they were married 55 years.
He worked as an excavator and a carpenter to support his wife and four children.
He had a great sense of humor and always had a funny come back comment. If you said to him “Dad I sure miss you” He would say “Well I’m glad you miss me especially if you have a gun!”
Dad has delighted many family and friends with his close-up magic tricks.
At ninety years old he still irrigated his lawn and garden and also did his own canning. He went fishin’ as often as he could. He and Marvin McGary went for a “cold one” (soda) every Wednesday morning.
He is a member of the LDS church. He made pinewood derby trophies for the cub scouts, and served in Scouting throughout his life receiving the Beaver award for his service. He was serving as the Sunday school secretary in his ward and was a devout Home Teacher.
His health and back have been a challenge, but if you asked him how he is doing, he would always say “I’m doing okay” no matter how bad he felt.
He was an amazing example of trying his hardest to “Do Your Best”
Roy is survived by his children, Hedy L. (Boyd) Bowman, Annette L. Meyer, Dan R. (Candan) Gardner, Douglas K. Gardner, Brothers Kenneth (Lois) Gardner, Lenora Carter, Marie Gardner and Geneva (Ralph) Butler, sister-in-law Carrie “Peaches” Gardner.
Because of you Dad! We are all here, you have 4 children + spouses, 27 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. That’s a total of 80 descendants just because you and Mom fell in love and got married many years ago.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, his parents, Brothers Earl and VerNon Gardner, son-in-law, Roger Meyer, granddaughter, Pride Gardner, grandson, John Meyer, grandson-in-law, William Jackson and great grandson, Austin Meyer.
We love you the MOST Dad and know that you are celebrating your salvation with mom and those who started that amazing journey before you.
