Ruby Blodgett, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, January 07, 2009, at her home.
She was born May 20, 1920, in Bates, Idaho to Nephi Sterling Clements and Sophia Roth Clements. She was raised in Bates and Lyman and attended Lyman schools.
On March 16, 1939, she married Clarence Leroy Blodgett in Rexburg; On September 3, 1991, their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She worked for Sweet Corn Cannery in Payette, ID, Fresh Fruit Packing Plant, in Fruitland, ID, Ore-Ida Potato Plant in Ontario, OR, Roger Bros. in Idaho Falls, Frenchs, Pillsbury in Shelley and as a maid at the Flamingo Inn in Idaho Falls.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as Quilt Director for over 30 years, as Librarian, Visiting Teacher and as a Temple Worker. She was a member of TOPS for 40 years and served as president. Ruby enjoyed traveling, canning, gardening, making dish towels and crazy patch quilts.
She is survived by her daughters; Betty Ann (Jim) Whitmill, of Idaho Fall, Sarah Ashton, of Shelley, Lily May (Steve) Newman, of Pocatello, sisters; Janet (Don) Purser, of Reno, NV, Freeda Hobbs, of Pocatello, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jesse Leroy Blodgett, and siblings, Royal, Marie, Berthena, Elizabeth, Sophia, Albert, Sterling, Levi, and Reuben.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
