Ruby Mae Gardner, 63, of Ucon, Idaho died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at her home in Ucon.
Ruby was born May 11, 1942 in Rexburg, Idaho the daughter of LeRoy Adelbert Palmer and Venice Bagley Palmer. She attended schools in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School. She married Richard “Dick” Gardner on April 29, 1960 in Egin Bench, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
In 1961 she moved with her family to Los Angeles, California. They lived there for four years, returning to Idaho to live in Rigby and then later moved to Ucon where they built a home in 1971.
Ruby worked for Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for twenty years as Dietician Clerk before taking medical retirement.
As a member of the LDS church, she served in the presidency of the primary in the Clark Ward and later in the Young Women’s Presidency in the Ucon 1st Ward.
Ruby’s greatest love was her family.
She is survived by her husband, Dick Gardner of Ucon, Idaho. Two daughters, Shanna (Roger) Henrie of Boise, Idaho and Alaina (Dale) Hustrulid of Portland, Oregon. Two sons, Richard Kevin (Olga) Gardner of Hemet, California and Jeffrey A (Christy) Gardner of Blackfoot, Idaho. Her father, LeRoy (LaRue) Palmer of Egin, Idaho, two sisters, Connie (Blaine) Larsen of Hamer, Idaho and Linda (Tim) Bird of Nampa, Idaho. A brother, Dean LeRoy (LuDean) Palmer of Rexburg, Idaho. Eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ucon 1st Ward LDS Chapel (10854 North 41st East) in Ucon, Idaho. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main, Rigby) and on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at the Ucon 1st Ward LDS Church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery in Rigby.
