Ruby Marie Wright

November 28, 1919 — May 22, 2018

Ruby Marie Clements Wright passed away May 22, 2018 at her home in Menan, Idaho.

Ruby Marie Clements was born November 28, 1919 in Hibbard, Idaho to Joseph William and Rebecca Violet McKenna Clements. She joined one sister and three brothers and later was joined by two sisters.

She attended school in Hibbard until her father passed away in 1934 and the family moved to Rexburg. Ruby attended one year of high school in Rexburg and then stayed home to raise her nephew and earn money by babysitting to help her mother who had gone to work to provide for her family.

Ruby met Dee Wright at a dance at Riverside Gardens. Ruby loved to dance.  Dee didn’t, but they went to all the dances; she danced and he visited.  They dated for a year and were married November 27, 1927 in her mother’s living room in Rexburg.  They lived with Dee’s parents and sister Fay in Menan for five years.  She loved her in-laws and also said they were good teachers and always loved her.

In 1942 Ruby and Dee moved to California while Dee worked in the ship yards. They moved back to Menan to start farming in the spring.  They lived across the street from Dee’s parents.  After the passing of Dee’s mother, they moved across the street with four children to live with Dee’s father.  By 1951 they had six children and their family was complete – four boys and two girls.

In 1973 Dee and Ruby moved to California and Dee worked construction for one year. Ruby loved her apartment and being close to Roy and Marilyn and her brother and sister.

In 1974 they moved back to Menan and in 1979 they sold the farm and built a new home one eighth mile down the road. Ruby loved her new home and enjoyed fixing it up.

Dee and Ruby traveled to visit family from east to west. Dee passed away in 1998 and Ruby continued living in Menan and enjoyed having her family around her.  She hosted a yearly Family Reunion each May in her home.  Ruby was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; was young Women’s President, teacher, secretary: Counselor in Relief Society, Visiting Teacher for 80 years, Temple worker and loved Missionary work and Humanitarian Services.  Each week she had friends and neighbors come tie quilts for Humanitarian purposes.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Dee, sons Bob, Brent and Reid, her parents Will and Violet Clements, four brothers Reid, Dwayne, Carol, and Blair Terry, three sisters Beulah Terry, Della Harrison, Delpha Van Zant, her in-laws Roy and Ruth Wright.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Darlene (Bob) Wright, Twin Falls, daughter Judith Wright, Menan, Son Roy (Marilyn) Wright, Menan, and daughter Barbra (Dave) Hill, Fountain Green, Utah, 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren.
