Rulon Roy Yearsley

Rulon Roy Yearsley, age 97, of Hamer, a loving father and grandfather was called home to live with Heavenly Father. Rulon was born on May 8, 1906, in Menan, Idaho a son of William Lorenzo Yearsley and Alice Labasha Blaisdell Yearsley. He attended the Roberts High School. He married Esther Lerenia Hardcastle on April 21, 1944 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on August 11, 1989. He homesteaded in the Mud Lake area when he was 21 years old. He helped develop the Jackett Canal in 1933. He was the President of the Jackett Canal for 20 years. Rulon was a rancher and farmer. He loved working his land and taking care of his livestock. He worked with his son Roy and family. They enjoyed working together. Rulon was a member of the West Jefferson Lions Club since 1975 receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow in 1989. He was citizen of the Year for the West Jefferson Lions club from 1982-1983. Rulon was the Cattleman of the year for Jefferson County for 1992-1993, Grass man of the Year for Jefferson County for 1972. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a High Priest. He was an honest, hard working man who taught his family to always work hard for the things they wanted. Survivors include, one son Roy (RueAnn) Yearsley of Hamer, Idaho a step son Clarence (Pat) Wright of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and one brother Waldo Yearsley of Phelan, California. 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, and 2 great great great grandchildren. Rulon was preceded in death by his parents, wife Esther, daughter Faye Alyce McAffee, one sister Leona, two brothers Glen and Ray Yearsley, grandson Leo and great granddaughter Kallie. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 20, 2003, at the Terreton L.D.S. Ward Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Todd Simmons officiating. The family will meet with friends on Sunday, October 19, at the Terreton L.D.S. Church from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
