Ruth Elaine Maughan Foster, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother returned home to her Heavenly Father October 1, 2021. Ruth was born June 18, 1940 in Morris Minnesota to John G. Maughan and Eunice Parsons Maughan. She was the middle child of seven children. Ruth grew up enjoying the cold Midwest winters and the beautiful green summers with her siblings. Each of them held a special place in her heart. While in high school Ruth participated in marching band which helped deepen her love of music. She was also a swim instructor for the Red Cross in the Pomme de Terre river near her home. Ruth attended college at St. Cloud State in Minnesota and worked as a nanny for her room and board. She later moved to Logan, Utah, where she attended and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Elementary Education. During her time at Utah State, she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She also met the love of her life, Silvon Kay Foster. They were married in the Logan, Utah Temple on November 18, 1962. To this union 6 children were born. Ruth taught school for a short time in Hyrum, Utah. However, when her first child was born, she turned her full attention to being a wife and mother. In 1965 Ruth and Kay moved to Roberts, Idaho. Six years later they moved to Lewisville, Idaho where she lived for 47 years. She loved her ward and the people who she served with. Eventually Ruth went back to work driving school bus and later returned to school teaching at Roberts and Kinghorn Elementary. She was a beloved teacher and would arrive early and stay late, helping many who needed extra help. Ruth had a great love for our country which she showed by displaying many flags in her home and yard. She served as president of the Jefferson County Republican Women. She enjoyed studying the constitution and thoroughly enjoyed teaching the patriotism of the past to the promise of the future. Ruth loved and lived the gospel of Jesus Christ to the fullest. She loved serving others, especially her family. She loved going to concerts, plays, track meets, and ball games to support her many grandchildren. Ruth grew a beautiful garden and taught her family to harvest and preserve many things. In 2004 Ruth and Kay were called on a mission to Lansing, Michigan. They loved the time they spent serving. Ruth is survived by her children; Bonnie (Terry)Tanner of Roberts, Idaho, Angela (Doug) McIntier of Boise, Idaho, Jonathan (Becky) Foster of Ammon, Idaho, Kerry (Kami) Foster of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Garth (Shanda) Foster of Ririe, Idaho, Chelsea (John) Walker of Elkton, Maryland. Her sister, Jeanette Flamming of Salt Lake City, Brothers Stanley (Tamra) Maughan of Edina, Minnesota and H. Bill (Jenni) Maughan of Irvington, Australia. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouse Silvon Kay Foster, her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers and her granddaughter Faith Foster. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Lewisville 2nd Ward Chapel at 11:00 am. There will be a viewing on Friday, October 8th from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 9th from 9:30 – 10:45 both at the Lewisville Church. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
