Samatha Denise Thayer

Samatha Denise Thayer, 64, of Rigby, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012, at home, in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 29, 1948, in Bellaire, Ohio to Ernest Doty and Lillie Grace Potter. She was raised and attended schools in Ohio. In 1983 she married her longtime companion William Miller; they later divorced, but remained close. Then in 1992 she married Bob Thayer, they later divorced. She worked as a CNA, in the geriatric nursing field in Rigby and surrounding areas for many years, and owned several pawn shops in Rigby and Rexburg. Samatha enjoyed guns, hunting and traveling. She loved to fish and camp with her children and her greatest joy was being a grandma. She is survived by her daughters, Christina Hill, of Rexburg, Kimberly McCallon, of Ririe, Ashley (Don) Libby, of Rexburg, son, Tony Balderson, of Boise, sisters Cindy Bailey, of Texas, Gloria Poindexter, of Texas, brother, Mike Sherman, of Texas, and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Lillie Grace McGlothlin and her sister, Carolyn Jernnigan. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring. Burial will in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
