Sara Jeanette Brown

July 16, 1981 — October 7, 2016

Sara Jeanette (Peterson) Brown, age 35 of Rigby, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Sara was born July 16, 1981 in Driggs, Idaho, to D. Gary Peterson and Heidi Durtschi Peterson. She was raised and attended schools in Tetonia, Idaho Falls, and Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. She continued her education at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg. On July 6, 2002, she married Nathaniel Darwin Brown in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children: Easton Nathaniel (13), Zachary Aaron (10), Olivia Kate (8), and Treyson Jex (almost 4). As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sara served as a Primary president and counselor, Young Women’s counselor, and Primary nursery leader. Sara’s greatest purpose and joy was to be a righteous mother in Zion. Her husband, their four children, and making her home a little bit of heaven were the center points of her gentle life. Throughout her life she had a firm testimony of the Atonement of Christ. Her heartfelt desire was to prepare herself and her family to live forever with her Heavenly Father, and this commitment to obtain eternal life for her family shall continue to be felt by her husband and children as she stands in the shadows and continues to nurture her family from the other side of the veil. Sara was an accomplished pianist through which she and those who listened felt the deepest expression of her love for life and for her Heavenly Father and Savior. She enjoyed photography and was gifted in capturing the heart and soul of those she photographed, especially children. She also loved interior decoration, and her home always reflected the special touches of her love for beauty, simplicity, and symmetry. She had a special love for all children, not just her own, and prior to her marriage was blessed with an opportunity to travel to Ecuador where she volunteered as a caregiver in several orphanages. In addition to her husband and four children of Rigby, Sara is survived by her parents, D. Gary and Heidi Durtschi Peterson also of Rigby; sisters Marian (Cody) Jones of Spanish Fork, Utah, and Elise Anne Peterson of Rigby; brother Stephen Andrew Peterson of Rigby; and maternal grandmother, Marian Durtschi Butler of Alta, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Arnold Alfred Durtschi, her uncle Richard Arnold Durtschi, and her paternal grandparents Dale and Ila (Brockbank) Peterson. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the LDS LaBelle 2nd Ward Chapel, 4223 East 528 North, Rigby, Idaho. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery, Ririe, Idaho. Services are under the care of the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
