Sarah Acor

Sarah Hammon Barzee Acor, 94, of Terreton died June 24, 2011. Sarah was born Dec. 18, 1916 at Ozone, Idaho, to Heber Levi Hammon and Sarah Ann Waters, the eighth of twelve children. She attended school in Ammon and graduated with honors from High School at Ucon. Sarah married Arlo E Barzee in the Salt Lake Temple on January 5, 1937. They were blessed with 13 children. Sarah's primary concern in life was raising her children, teaching them, and helping them work on their farm and in the garden. She raised beautiful flowers and always had a bounteous garden. She and the children worked alongside Arlo on their dairy farm. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of her children's clothes. Sarah enjoyed crocheting and gave away numerous afghans to her grandchildren as well as baby dresses and crocheted collars. She loved to paint and decorated her home with her beautiful oil landscapes. Arlo died in March of 1969. Sarah married Everett Acor in 1970. He died in 2003. Sarah held many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including Primary, Scouts, Relief Society, and served as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls Temple for many years. Sarah is survived by daughters Arlene (Edmund) Williams of Rexburg, Charlotte (Lewis) Sanders of Eagle, Ardith (Gary) Walker of Twin Falls, Barbara (Clifford) Turnbow of St. George, Utah, Gay (David) Roessner of Hilliard, Ohio, daughter in law Ellen (Milton) Barzee of Rexburg, sons Heber (Jessie) Barzee of Terreton, Lloyd (Jewel) Barzee of Terreton, Nolan (Debbie) Barzee of Purcellville, Virginia, and Keith (Louise) Barzee of Terreton. She is also survived by her sister Louannie Youngstrom of Aberdeen. Sarah will be greatly missed by her 55 grandchildren, 151 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her husbands, sons Milton, Vert Al, Leon Dee, daughter Maxine, grandsons Roger Sanders and Robert Rossener, great granddaughter Brennan Barzee, and great grandsons Joseph Sanders, Jonathan Shultis and Luke Walker, 2 sisters, and 8 brothers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Terreton LDS Stake Center with Bishop Shaun Grover officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday prior to services, both at the stake center. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family expresses special thanks to the Nurses and Helper at the Rexburg Care and Rehabilitation Center for their loving and kind care of Sarah.
