Scott Gray Clawson

April 14, 1953 — December 3, 2017

Scott Gray Clawson was born April 14, 1953 to Gray Irwin Clawson and Carolyn Florence Prows Clawson. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones December 3, 2017 after a valiant and courageous fight with cancer. Scott was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, moved to Idaho Falls, and then Rexburg and settled into the country out in Burton as a young child. He loved all the many adventures in Burton with the Thomason boys.  He graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1971.  He then went on to serve in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976.  He obtained his education in Huntsville, Alabama, as a Vulcan Chaparral Armament Specialist.  Once deployed, he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war.  He received the National Defense Service Medal and was qualified as a Sharp Shooter.  During his time in Germany, he taught himself to play the guitar which helped propel his love of music for the rest of his life. Upon his return, he began dating Sheila Hall. They were married on June 9, 1979 and sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 10, 1984.  To this union, three loving children were added; Anthony, Chad, & Lyndsee.  He is the proud grandfather of three wonderful grandsons, Kyler, Kayden and Talon who he loved dearly.  Scott had a profound love for his family and this was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different capacities throughout his life. He served as the membership clerk in two bishoprics and most recently, as a teacher in the High Priest Group, which he enjoyed doing. He worked as a Water Rights Consultant with Jefferson and Clark Counties. He also worked for Blaine Larsen Farms for ten years and with Cornelison Farms in Hamer for twenty-six years. He is survived by his sweetheart of 42 years, Sheila, a son Anthony (Chelzie) Clawson and their children, Kyler, Kayden and Talon of Saint Anthony, a son Chad Clawson and a daughter, Lyndsee Clawson both of Rexburg, his mother Carolyn P. Clawson, brothers, Curtis (Susan) Clawson and Bradley (Linda) Clawson, all of Rexburg, a sister May Lin (Kerry) Carlsen of Boise He was preceded in death by his father Gray I, Clawson and his grandparents. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Henry’s Fork Stake Center, 1508 West 3000 North, Rexburg. The family will visit with friends at the Stake Center, Wednesday December 6, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.  Interment will be in the Burton Cemetery with military rites under direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Steven Lofgran, Dr. Jack Clark, and the many caregivers at Madison Memorial Hospital and Huntsman Cancer Institute for all of their kindness and service to our family.
