Sharon Marlene Walker Jones, 78, of Rigby passed from this life at her home after bravely fighting cancer, Thursday, the Thirteenth day of November 2014, with her husband and daughters by her side.
Sharon was born January 29, 1936 in Rigby, Idaho to Oral H. Walker and Beatrice Mortensen Walker. She was the 7th of eight children. She attended Rigby High School.
On November 9, 1952, she married Dennis L. Jones – the love of her life. They made Rigby their home and together they raised two daughters, Tyra and Sherry. On May 17, 2003, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. Dennis and Sharon recently celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary.
Many people will remember Sharon working at Idaho Drug, Blocks clothing store, Idaho 1st National Bank, US Bank and Zions Bank. She greeted everyone with a smile and was always caring and friendly. Volunteer work included Secretary of the Salvation Army for many years, serving at the Farnsworth Museum and Rigby City Library and as Girl Scout Leader for her daughters’ troop. She enjoyed her association with the women of the Red Hat Society.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various callings and especially enjoyed being a Visiting Teacher. She loved to attend the temple each month.
Sharon had an eye for beauty which was reflected in her finely decorated home and classy attire. Her personal appearance was always impeccable and her sense of style most admirable.
She was passionate about family traditions, card games, traveling, hosting parties and going to plays and concerts. Fond memories were created with family and friends at the cabin at Henry’s Lake.
She believed in daily walks, church attendance, handwritten cards and letters, weekly hair appointments, keeping immaculate records, morning devotional with her sweetheart, and prayer.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Dennis, who has exemplified loving devotion, daughters, Tyra (Gordon) Peterson of Aurora, Colorado, Sherry (Myron) Lufkin of Rigby, 11 grandchildren & 29 great-grandchildren, sisters, Enid Palmer Storer of Washington, Barbara Neiwirth of Idaho Falls, Lennis Dabell of Rigby, Marsha Smith (Blaine) of Rexburg, and brother Eldon Walker (Dorothy) of Salt Lake City.
