Shawn Merlyn Ringel

Shawn Merlyn Ringel, 39, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away on December 13, 2016. Shawn was born July 12, 1977 in Jerome, Idaho. Soon after his birth, he was adopted into the loving home of Merlyn and Donette Ringel. When he was 3 years old, he welcomed a baby sister into his family. They lived in Shelley, Idaho until he was 7 years old. Shawn loved living in Shelley as a child and attending Goodsell Elementary. He was friendly and likeable and had many friends. His family moved to Sandy, Utah where he attended Bell View and Edgemont Elementary Schools. They missed Idaho and soon returned, living in the Garfield area. He attended Bonneville Jr. High in 7th and 8th grade, then Rigby Jr. High in 9th grade. Shawn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed participating in activities with the youth in his ward. Shawn’s family moved to Menan, Idaho in 1992. He continued attending Rigby schools and graduated from Rigby High School in 1995. Shawn loved scouting and the mountains. He was an Eagle Scout and spent time working as a leader at Treasure Mountain Scout Camp. He loved music and was very gifted with music ability. He played the piano, sang with his high school choir, the Troylairs, and played guitar and drums in many different bands as an adult. He loved art and was a talented artist. He was blessed with the ability to make friends easily and could always make people laugh. Shawn married Alicia Brown in Rigby, Idaho on October 11, 2008. Shawn’s pride and joy were his children; Jordan, Addyson, and Brynlee. He loved being a father more than anything. He enjoyed volunteering in the classroom and doing anything that involved his kids. Shawn is survived by his wife, Alicia Ringel of Idaho Falls; son, Jordan Anderson of Seattle, Washington; daughters, Addyson and Brynlee Ringel of Shelley, Idaho. His father, Merlyn Ringel of Menan; sister, Marcel Parkinson of Plano, Idaho, grandparents, Don and Carol Eliason of Holbrook and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Donette Ringel and his grandparents, Joseph Robert and Eileen Ringel. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Menan LDS Stake Center, 698 N. 3600 E. Menan, Menan, Idaho, 83434. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 am, prior to services at the church. Services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
