Sheril Gay Shuman

March 1, 1935 — July 28, 2017

Sheril Gay Shuman, age 82, passed away at her home in Bothwell, Utah, surrounded by her loving family, Friday, July 28th 2017. Sheril was born March 1st 1935 in Tremonton, Utah, a daughter of Leland Lawrence (Joe) Anderson and Victoria Jackson Anderson. She attended Bothwell Elementary where she met the love of her life, Curtis Foy Shuman. He came to her rescue to chase away some boys that were teasing her. She was smitten! After graduating from Bear River High School, she and Curtis were married September 3rd 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised a family together while Curtis served in the United States Air Force. She became proficient in packing up the family and moving to wherever they were assigned. Sheril enjoyed music, playing the piano, singing in the choir, sewing, quilting, hand embroidery, gardening, western novels, old movies, her children and grandchildren.  She and Curtis loved spending the winters in Salome, Arizona where they made many wonderful friends.  Sheril is survived by her children: Clara Gay Bird, Vicki Marie (Laine) Eckersell, Joel (Barbara) Shuman, David (Sandy) Shuman, Ken (Shannon) Shuman and Bryan (Shannon) Shuman, a sister Joyce (Dave) Burton, 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Foy Shuman, her parents, her son-in-law Scott Bird and two granddaughters.  Funeral services will be held at the Bothwell LDS Church 10350 West 11600 North, Tremonton, Utah, Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 12:00 Noon. The family will visit with friends on Thursday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Bothwell Cemetery. We express appreciation to the Bothwell Ward Bishopric and Relief Society Sisters for the kind service rendered to the family and to Intermountain Home Care and Hospice for the loving care given to our mother.
