Sherry Mae Fisher died peacefully Thursday, January 13, 2011. During the five years she fought cancer, she received an enormous amount of love and support from her friends and family, which she greatly appreciated. Despite her illness, she always viewed life as a glass half full, never complaining about anything.
Sherry was born on April 5, 1941 in Idaho Falls to Zelma Mae and Harvey Ray Peterson. Upon graduation from Bonneville High School she married Richard Fisher. Together they had three children, Karren Trimp (Pat), Ken Fisher (Katie), and Kryss Williams (Michael). Although their marriage ended, they remained friends throughout her life.
She worked as a receptionist at FreshPak in Lewisville for 26 years. In June 1992, she married George Perez. He passed away in 1997.
Sherry’s children and grandchildren were the love of her life and she accepted the responsibility of being a mother and grandmother with total unselfishness and a joyful pleasure. She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her parents and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
Sherry was a born-again Christian and attending church was one of the highlights of her week. She attended regularly, and her legacy is the inspiration she gave everyone that knew her, and the changes she brought about in the lives of those who loved her. She enjoyed fishing and camping trips, and took special pride in her garden, especially her lovely flower and salsa gardens.
The family invites friends and relatives to a service to celebrate Sherry’s life at the Roberts Community Church, 637 North 2872 East, Roberts, Idaho. It will be a time to mourn, share memories, see old friends, heal ourselves and sing. Family members will greet friends at 10 a.m., and the service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
We want to thank all of those who helped in so many ways for your kind thoughts and prayers. Instead of sending flowers please take a friend to lunch or dinner and tell him or her things we often think of only after someone is gone.
