Shirley Hill

Shirley Hill, 87, of Lyman, Idaho passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 peacefully at her home. Shirley was born in Menan, Idaho to Leon Green and Valoria Johnson Green. She was raised and attended schools in Menan and graduated from LDS Seminary and Midway High School in 1948. She married Dee Bush on April 13, 1951 in her parents’ home in Menan, Idaho. They were blessed with 3 children. Dee preceded her in death May 26, 1962. On September 10, 1965, she married Larry M. Hill in the Idaho Falls LDS temple for time; their marriage was later solemnized February 24, 1977. Larry adopted Shirley’s three children who were sealed to them on this date. Shirley loved and raised all eight children as one happy family. She was an excellent homemaker and a wonderful mother. She assisted with the management of the farm with Larry by insuring that the records were correct and the bills paid. Shirley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held various calling in the church. She loved to sew, cook and managed her home and family with great love. She had a lifetime love for her yard, camping and fishing trips, family picnics, and reunions. In her later years, she enjoyed car rides with Larry. She was survived by her daughters, Susan (Steven) Johnson, of Leadore, Idaho; Linda (Russell) Munns of Archer, Idaho; Lori (Thad) Checketts of Kersey, Colorado; and Relda (Michael) Sorensen, of South Jordan, Utah; sons Craig (Carla) Hill of Archer, Idaho; Val (Linda) Hill and Rodney (Tracy) Hill of Lyman, Idaho; Bryant (Cindy) Hill of Burton, Idaho; brother-in-law Merlin (Bernice) Hill of Ririe, Idaho; 43 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry M. Hill; her parents Leon Rulon Green and Valoria Johnson Green; brothers Rulon and Duane (Dewey) Green; sisters-in-law Julie Rottweiler Green; Bonnie Johnson Hill; brother-in-law Verdale Hill; and three grandsons. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Lyman 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 1952 W. 6000 S., Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, Idaho.
