Shirley L. Johnson

Shirley L. Johnson, 88, of Rigby, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family members, on Thursday, February 16, 2012. She was born February 3, 1924, in Iona, Idaho to Tom L. Williams and Lucille DaBell Williams. She attended schools in Rigby, and graduated from Rigby High School. She married Clyde O. Johnson on August 1, 1946 in Rigby, Idaho; they were happily married for 55 years. Their marriage was solemnized September 24, 1993. She worked at the Rigby Telephone Office for about twelve years and was working the switchboard the day World War II ended. She also worked at the Smart Shoppe in Rigby and at Marshall’s Furniture for 18 years. She was member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. She and Clyde were Sake Dance Directors for many years. Shirley was an active member of the E.S.A. Sorority for over 55 years. She also enjoyed the Red Hat Society. She loved her beautiful home, yard, and interior decorating. She was and will always be a role model to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lee (Larry) Jones, of Garden Valley, Idaho, son, Kirk Clyde (Kristy) Johnson, of Rigby, grandchildren, Rachel Jones, Nathan Jones, Abigail Tucker, Brandon Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Andra McKenney, 15 great-grandchildren, sisters, Sandra (Gary) Pettengill, Vicki (Bill) Bell, both of Rigby, brothers, Boyd T. Williams, of Sandy, Utah, and Gary (Mary) Williams, of Rigby. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and two sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at the Rigby Stake Center, (258 W. 1st N., Rigby) with Bishop Bruce Marler, conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, (101 W. Main Street, Rigby) and from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., prior to services at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family expresses a special thanks to Aspen Home Health and Hospice and especially to Janel Campbell and Beth Park.
