Silvon Kay Foster

Silvon Kay Foster, 78, of Lewisville, died June 4, 2009, at his home. He was born May 23, 1931, in Chapin, Idaho, to George Henry Foster, and Ruth Helen Miller Foster. He was raised and attended schools in the Teton Basin, and graduated from Teton High School. He continued his education at Ricks College and graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science. On November 20, 1962, he married Ruth Elaine Maughan in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a school teacher at Roberts High School, Roberts Jr. High, Midway Jr. High and Rigby Jr. High and retired after 30 years. He taught science, drivers ed, P.E. and history. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in several capacities including Rigby Stake High Council and Bishop of the Lewisville 2nd Ward. He served in the Helsinki, Finland mission and together with his wife in the Lansing Michigan mission. He served on the Central Fire District as Commissioner, and was part owner of Teton Expeditions, working as a river guide during the summers. Kay enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, singing, playing the guitar, and following BYU sports, he especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Elaine Foster, of Lewisville; daughters, Bonnie (Terry) Tanner, of Ririe, Angie (Doug) McIntier, of Boise, Chelsea (John) Walker, of Ririe; sons, Jonathan (Becky) Foster, of Idaho Falls, Kerry (Kami) Foster, of Iona, Garth (Shanda) Foster, of Ririe; sisters, Claudia Archibald, of North Ogden, UT, Carolyn Thornley, of Brigham City, UT, Flossie (Ray) Evans, of Portland; brothers, Mel (LaDawn) Foster, of Logan, UT, Steve (Renae) Foster, Glen (Karen) Foster, both of Rigby, 31 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Lewisville 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Tony Nielsen, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little-Butte Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
