Sophia Garcia Cabral

June 16, 1940 — December 7, 2022

Sophia Garcia Cabral, 82 of Riverside, California, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Homestead Senior Living in Rexburg, Idaho.

Sophia was born June 16, 1940 in San Bernardino, California to Jose Prado and Petra Garcia.  She was raised and attended schools in San Bernardino, graduating from San Bernardino High School.  On June 21, 1959, she married Alejandro Rodriquez Cabral in San Bernardino, California; they were blessed with 3 sons.  In addition to being a wife and mother; Sophia worked as a secretary for the US Air Force, as an executive secretary for the California Department of Transportation, and as a secretary superintendent of schools in Riverside California.

Sophia was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and loved attending services every week.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to movies, the state fair, and visiting Old Town San Diego.  She loved the old classic movies dancing, eating good authentic Mexican food and made friends very easily. Her example to her children and grandchildren was always rooted in the sincerest love and her home was always a safe haven to those that entered it. Her marriage always served as something that everyone in the family strived for, a marriage built on the highest examples of love, communication and trust. Sophia had incredible intuition when it came to people and this intuition served her children and grandchildren throughout their lives.

Her feisty personality and the way she said “there is so much love” will always be remembered fondly. Sophia loved to dance and lived life to the fullest! She was truly a beacon to her family and her love will resonate throughout eternity.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Cabral of Rigby, Idaho, Daniel Cabral of Belton, Texas, Curtis Cabral of Riverside, California, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Irene Schaus and Tola Prado, and brothers Raymond Prado, Jose Prado and Ezekiel Prado.
