Charles Stanley “Stan” Cherry, age 58, of Idaho Falls, died July 15, 2009.
He was born August 31, 1950, in Rexburg, to Charles William Cherry and Zelpha Mae Young. He grew up and attended schools in Mud Lake, Canada and Dubois and graduated from Clark County High School where he played football, track, ping-pong, and won the state basked ball tournament in 1968. He attended barber school in Utah, and owned and operated Stan’s Competition Barber Shop in Idaho Falls for 28 years. He farmed in Canada for 4 years and owned the Mint Bar and Jack Daniels Bar.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodwork, basketball, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Vicki Cherry, of Inkom, McKenzi Cherry, of Idaho Falls, Charles “Justin” Cherry, of Pocatello, Douglas W. (Hilary) Cherry, of Idaho Falls, Stanley “Cayde” (Jamie) Cherry, of Idaho Falls, John “Kelynn” Cherry, of Idaho Falls, sisters, Sandy (Dean) Sanders, of Utah, Betty Lords, of Idaho Falls, brothers, Tracy Cherry, of Idaho Falls, Joe Cherry, of Nevada, and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Valerie Alder, and a brother, Steven Cherry.
A graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2009, at Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Stan Cherry Benefit Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank or may be mailed to Stan Cherry Benefit Memorial Fund, 211 E. Shelley St., Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
